What is a downhole pressure transducer?
A downhole transducer is a tool designed to take measurements at great distances below the surface of the Earth. Because of the extremes in heat and pressure that can be found underground, specialized downhole transducers that are extra rugged and reliable are needed in these conditions.
A downhole pressure transducer is specifically designed to take reading of various pressure levels found underground, usually gas or water pressures. By converting the pressure into an analog electrical signal, the transducer allows workers above ground to know the pressure levels without having to go underground themselves – often at their own risk.
There are many applications where down pressure transducers are critical, particularly in the gas, oil and power industries. Perforating tools, compressors and pump stations are just a few of the critical applications that rely on these tools. Custom pressure transducer features include more rugged housing materials, an increased range of operating temperatures and greater resistance to electrical noise resulting in a higher rate of accuracy.
